Rain Männikus defended his PhD thesis Water level dynamics in the eastern Baltic Sea, 1961−2018 (Läänemere idaranniku ja Liivi lahe veetaseme dünaamika 1961−2018) in the Department of Cybernetics, School of Science, Tallinn University of Technology. The official opponents were Prof. Dr. Hans von Storch (Geesthacht) and Dr. Kai Myrberg (Helsinki/Klaipeda)

The Wave Engineering Laboratory organised the half-day web-based mini-conference on marine science and applications with three extended presentations:
- Hydrodynamic noise – a challenge in analysis and simulation (Prof. Dr. Hans von Storch, Institute of Coastal Systems, Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht, Germany)
- Imputation of “missing” Baltic Sea observations using pre-calculated patterns from models (Prof. Jüri Elken, Marine Systems Institute, School of Science, Tallinn University of Technology, Estonia)
