We apply three methods for automatic detection of mesoscale eddies to the Eulerian velocity fields in the Gulf of Finland, the Baltic Sea and in Vattlestraumen fjord in the North Sea. The first method is based on a physical criterion, the estimation of Okubo-Weiss parameter, the second on a geometric criterion, using the winding-angle approach.  The results provide a detailed overview of the mesoscale eddies in both study areas.
